2017 Grassroots Launch - Chicago, IL
A core component to the realization of significant systems and public policy change to create new social norms around oral health is engaging those most impacted by the policies and systems that negatively impact health outcomes. The Grassroots Engagement Strategy Phase III National Launch will bring together the lead grassroots grantees from over twenty communities representing six states (CA, AZ, MI, FL, PA, VA). This gathering of social justice oriented grassroots organizations will offer an opportunity to share the key and critical insights gathering during the year two engage/empower/equip phase in 2016, elevating lessons learned from their collaborative planning processes to engaged community stakeholders in re-envisioning equitable oral health systems locally and at the state-level. These 20 grantees will then align on implementation tactics and strategies to build the leadership capacity of community residents to take action in changing the public perception of the value of oral health, while implementing community-driven oral health priority plans to achieve policy and systems changes solutions.
Michigan State Meeting
Six states are uniquely positioned to create permanent and positive change around oral health in the coming years: California, Arizona, Michigan, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Heavy Oral Health 2020 investment in these states has catalyzed a robust and dynamic network that spans the grassroots and community based organizations, statewide advocacy and policy organizations, as well as grasstops leaders with national influence. Deeping the connections and expanding the role of these six states in the mounting oral health movement has the potential to maximize each state’s effort to achieve real momentum and impact across the Oral Health 2020 goals. These six states will serve as models for the nation, emphasizing the benefits of a strong, collaborative statewide infrastructure to transform the systems surrounding oral health. Stakeholders from across all three network levels will come together and align for action, create shared agendas, and develop strategies that will result in marked progress on oral health across each state.
