DentaQuest Foundation Announces Partnership with Campaign for Grade-Level Reading

June 10, 2015

BOSTON – The DentaQuest Foundation today announced that it will partner with the Campaign for Grade-Level Reading on their More Hopeful Futures Initiative, launching in 2017.  This partnership was announced at the Clinton Global Initiative America (CGI America) meeting in Denver, CO.

The More Hopeful Futures Initiative will be the next phase of a decade-long effort to increase reading proficiency among children from low-income families. Over the next three years, the planned pre-launch activities will reach at least 50,000 children with an enhanced package of screenings and supports designed to accelerate ongoing efforts to improve school readiness, school attendance and summer learning.

Oral health is one factor that affects absenteeism, learning, and ultimately, school success. As a Commission Member for the More Hopeful Futures Initiative, the DentaQuest Foundation will be part of a broad range of individuals and organizations from diverse industries that will provide expert guidance on some of the factors outside of school that can affect achievement. Commission members will share knowledge and resources and inform resource allocation and integration decisions, provide counsel on the ongoing development of the More Hopeful Futures Initiative, and serve as co-conveners of commons enterprise learning networks to promote information sharing, resource alignment and collaboration.

“Our work going forward, including More Hopeful Futures, draws heavily on the experience, lessons and insights of the civic leaders and public officials who have mobilized their communities and the state and local funders who have supported the work,” said Ralph Smith, managing director of the Campaign for Grade-Level Reading.”
